The search is on for the 2012 BIFM award winners

Entries are open and the search is now underway to find the best of the best in facilities management to be crowned BIFM award winners in 2012.

Gareth Tancred, interim CEO of BIFM, said: “All award winners leave a lasting legacy for peers to learn from, to take ideas from, and so they in turn can deliver FM excellence. Last year the BIFM awards had the highest number of entrants to date - this year we look set to surpass that figure as we search for excellence in FM. Interest in the awards demonstrates both the fantastic work the FM profession is undertaking and also the increasingly strategic role played by FM in the success of all organisations.”

For the second consecutive year Mace Macro is headline sponsor of this event. The company’s managing director, Peter Brumby, said: “We believe the BIFM awards is a well-deserved opportunity to celebrate industry success, showcase the innovation that occurs in the FM workplace throughout the year, and commend all those who are committed to the growth of the industry.”

2012 sees the addition of a new category, ‘Learning and career development’, alongside the more established categories of: consultant of the year; excellence in a major project; facilities manager of the year; impact on organisation and workplace; in-house client team of the year; innovation in customer service; innovation in products; innovation in the use of technology and systems; service provider of the year; and sustainability and environmental impact.

Oliver Jones, chairman of the judges for the BIFM Awards, said: “The on-going refresh process ensures we are maintaining alignment with what the industry wants. For example, our new award in 2012 for ‘Learning and career development’ reflects the growing importance of apprenticeships, qualifications and development programmes for young people entering the service industries that FM represents so well. I would urge all market leaders to be bold enough to enter and test their teams and help the awards, and the recognition of the value of FM, go from strength to strength.”

Entries close on 27 April 2012 (‘FM of the year’ category closes on 20 July 2012). All winners will be announced at the BIFM Awards ceremony, taking place on 8 October 2012 at The Grosvenor House Hotel in central London.
