Spotless service for Middleton Shopping Centre

Middleton Shopping Centre is being maintained by a team of qualified cleaners. All staff from Anchor Group Services of Chester, based at the centre, have recently undertaken an NVQ Level 2 in cleaning standards.

The nationally recognised qualification is a work-based course which focuses on achieving occupational competency in the area of cleaning building interiors and includes cleaning both internal and external surfaces and areas, toilets, washrooms, glazed surfaces and facades, soft and hard floors, and furnishings. It also covers routine waste, health and safety, and working both as a member of a team and individually.

“I am very pleased that my team has successfully achieved this NVQ,” said Tony Pimlott, cleaning manager. “It confirms just how seriously they take their role and, as well as giving them job satisfaction, visitors to Middleton Shopping Centre benefit from a high standard of cleanliness throughout.”

The cleaning team was not the only ones to go 'back to school'. Pimlott has also undertaken an NVQ Level 2 in Team Leading and Management, and is going to take Level 3 in the same field.

“As this qualification is intended for people who have a responsibility for the work of others, it seemed appropriate for me to take it,” continued Pimlott. “I am looking forward to the course and anticipate that, once concluded, it will benefit my cleaning team and the centre's management team.”

Howard Gibbons, manager of the Middleton Shopping Centre, said: “I am so pleased, and proud that all the staff volunteered to improve their educational standards, even the part time evening workers.”
