South coast company expands into London

Southampton commercial cleaning company Progress Cleaning Ltd has won a major London based contract, and has opened a London office to accommodate the additional personnel and equipment needed.

The significant contract necessitating the expansion was awarded to Progress Cleaning by a large city based property management company. It will require Progress to clean the exterior windows of high rise commercial properties in central London and Canary Wharf.

The new office, located in Surrey Quays, will serve as headquarters for the 10 members of staff who currently face a daily commute to London to fulfil other cleaning contract commitments. Four additional local staff members will be employed in April 2010 to assist with the current and future growth plans.

The London office premises will also be used to store equipment and vehicles. The new contract will necessitate the purchase of two additional vans complete with the state of the art equipment required by the fully compliant commercial cleaning company. The waterfed pole apparatus utilised by Progress uses ionised water. This water will now be processed overnight in the London premises rather than transported up to the capital, meaning that the company can work in a more environmentally friendly way.

Director Kevin Robson said: “This has been an exceptional year for Progress Cleaning. We have worked hard to buck the trend of the current credit crunch and it has paid dividends.”

Co-director Ian Robson added: “Our new London office is a really big step for us, but we are confident that it is the way forward. The Southampton premises will continue to function as our head office, but the London branch will give us a foothold to continue with our expansion plans within the city and M25.”
