Sodexo recognises outstanding frontline employees

Sodexo has recognised the achievement of 28 of its most outstanding frontline employees in its sixth annual Service Excellence Awards. Cleaners, fitness instructors, helpdesk operators, receptionists, gardeners, security officers, engineers, kitchen porters, hospital porters, prison officers, baristas, food service assistants, and health and safety champions from across Sodexo's integrated facilities management business in the UK and Ireland were recognised for their dedication and hard work.

Attended by more than 300 employees, the event was held at Ascot Racecourse in May, where Sodexo manages the hospitality contract. Corporate affairs director, Phil Hooper was joined on stage by managing directors from across Sodexo's segments to recognise the winners and runners up in 28 categories.

The coveted Kathy Ridgard Award, presented in honour of Kathy, who was director of Sodexo's Centre of Excellence before sadly losing her battle with cancer in February 2013, went to barista Kirsty Rafferty. The award was presented by Kathy's daughters.

Kirsty Rafferty also won the barista of the year award for her work on the Aspretto coffee bar at Scottish Parliament where her superb customer service skills mean she remembers the preferred hot drink of everyone in the building.

Phil Hooper, Sodexo UK and Ireland corporate affairs director, who hosted the awards, said: “As the provider of a diverse range of integrated facilities management services, from security to grounds maintenance, from help desk to catering, the one constant across our business is our people. Our frontline employees working to improve quality of life for clients and customers every day are crucial to our success. It's important we recognise their achievements both individually and in their teams. We continue to expand our portfolio of services which is demonstrated through half of our business now being integrated facilities management. This year we have added two more health and safety categories to reflect the importance of this area to our business and our people.”
