ShD puts MHE under the hammer

A new online auction site for materials handling equipment is set to go live this summer. Materials Handling Exchange, in association with ShD, will offer buyers and sellers a marketplace where new, used and surplus equipment can be bought and sold. A unique aspect of the auction is that it offers for sale goods from a variety of brands across numerous industry sectors.

The Materials Handling Exchange will offer a global marketplace for a wide assortment of warehouse handling equipment, from fork lift trucks and racking to scissor lifts and conveyors. Bi-monthly online auctions - the first of which ends on 23 July - allow buyers to place bids and purchase equipment from anywhere in the world.

“Materials Handling Exchange, in association with ShD, is an exciting new joint venture that will appeal to all categories of our readership,” said Rob Fisher, publisher of ShD. “The trade, end users and OEMs will all be able to participate in this initiative, which offers local and national sellers a worldwide audience of buyers. Whether you wish to sell a single piece of equipment, or need to dispose of a range of items, Materials Handling Exchange will promote that sale on a no-win-no-fee basis. In tandem with IMHX, ShD Regional Shows and our digital initiatives, Materials Handling Exchange is a further example of Quartz Publishing & Exhibitions engaging with the industry to offer added value.”

Companies or individuals looking to sell or buy equipment are invited to visit www.go-dove.com to get a feel of how the auctions will work. Unlike some well-known online consumer auction sites, GoIndustry is a business-to-business industrial auction house and, as such, has a slightly different set of criteria for participants. Peter Budden, GoIndustry’s project manager for the Materials Handling Exchange, suggests all interested buyers and sellers should contact him first on 07785 221922 or [email protected]. From that point onwards, GoIndustry will take care of all administration, and help with matters such as descriptions, valuations and legal matters. GoIndustry, the first company to introduce online auctions, conducts numerous regular industry specific online exchanges, including aviation, electronics manufacturing, IT, packaging & processing, printing, and transportation.

The first auction is already attracting lots. Subsequent auctions are scheduled to complete on 17th September and 19th November.
