'Olympic' office cleaners in initial confusion

With the 2012 London Olympic Games on the horizon, City office cleaning company IOC Ltd is getting used to receiving telephone calls meant for that other IOC, the International Olympic Committee.

Sales director Scott Bambridge said: “We are taking several calls a month for the Olympic body, sometimes with journalists asking to speak to Seb Coe, chairman of the London Organising Committee. It’s something we are now used to and our office staff give callers the correct number.”

IOC Ltd, which stands for Image Office Cleaning, was set up in 2003 by Scott Bambridge and his partner Paul Hart and now employs over 400 staff. Based near <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 />TowerBridge, it has become one of London’s fastest growing privately owned cleaning companies, working for some of the biggest names in the capital.

It remains to be seen whether having the same initials as the more athletic IOC will help the cleaning firm win some of the Olympic contracts currently up for grabs in east London.
