Manchester Cleaning Show 2020 postpones...and goes virtual

The Manchester Cleaning Show, due to take place at Event City, Manchester back in March, was one of the first UK-based events to fall victim to the coronavirus pandemic. Since then, so much has changed, making planning across every business sector extremely challenging - to say the least.

BCCE Ltd – organiser of the Cleaning Shows in London and Manchester, jointly owned by the British Cleaning Council and Quartz Business Media – reacted quickly when coronavirus struck and, hoping that the pandemic might be controlled by the end of the summer, announced new dates for September. These were moved to 14-15 October following a successful negotiation by the Association of Event Organisers to have live events back on the calendar by 1 October 2020.

Since then, as we all know, further restrictions have been introduced, some of which hit the Greater Manchester area harder than most. Because of this, and with great reluctance, the organisers have postponed Manchester Cleaning Show 2020 to September 2021 and have replaced this year’s event with a virtual/online exhibition and conference.

A statement from the organiser said: “This has been a saddening decision for everyone working on the Manchester Cleaning Show, but we have unanimously agreed that the best course of action is to reschedule the event. The latest government rules regarding social gatherings, and the ongoing local lockdown in the Greater Manchester area, has forced us to re-evaluate our plans for the event. We have always put the health and safety of our exhibitors and visitors first, and will continue to do so. We have been, and remain, steadfast in our commitment to stage a much-needed physical exhibition and conference for the industry. We hope that the move to September 2021 will see us able to operate freely without social distancing restrictions, and ensures that we do not interfere or clash with other planned industry events.”

But there is so much to discuss right now, with so many of our exhibitors having products that can help the UK get back to business, and so many individuals needing the support and the contacts that an event brings. The UK cleaning industry needs an opportunity to come together now, and this has led to the staging of the virtual event on 14-15 October 2020.

This isn’t what anybody had hoped for but the opportunities that this virtual event offers – particularly as it is being hosted on a really innovative platform – will make it unmissable for cleaning industry professionals. There are no apps to download, you can view everything on a device of your choice, and it will deliver exciting content and business solutions for visitors and a vital commercial opportunity for exhibitors.
