G4S has secured a major healthcare contract with Croydon Health Services NHS Trust. The contract, worth a total of £41 million over seven years, began on 8 May 2017 with G4S providing cleaning services to eight sites, including the Croydon University and Purley War Memorial hospitals. The contract will also see G4S deliver pest control, window cleaning and portering services. Up to 315 members of staff are expected to TUPE across from the incumbent provider.
As part of this new agreement, G4S will implement a number of new measures to succeed in meeting the strict reporting and hygiene standards that all NHS sites demand. Synbiotix, a software platform which helps businesses working in healthcare deliver a more efficient and transparent visualisation of reporting and auditing processes, will be utilised by G4S as part of this contract. This digital platform will also be used to help monitor cleanliness standards and compliance within the healthcare environment. In addition to this, G4S is introducing a 24/7 help desk, as well as providing extra supervisor on-site hours.
Gareth Chapman, FM director, health, secure and Ireland, said: "We have a strong track record with facilities management services in healthcare environments and I have every confidence that this will continue with Croydon. I look forward to building a strong working relationship with the Trust through our high-quality approach and use of innovative solutions to improve patient comfort and satisfaction.”
Allan Morley, director of estates and facilities at Croydon Health Services NHS Trust, added: “We are a busy NHS Trust and it is crucial that we have extremely high standards of cleanliness, as well as efficient portering to ensure all of our patients are safely transported around our sites. We are pleased to be working with G4S who were able to assure us they will enable us to meet the very high standards expected by all of those in our care.”
The Croydon Health Services NHS Trust provides acute and community healthcare services to 380,000 people across Croydon, both in their homes and NHS sites, including clinics, specialist centres and Croydon University Hospital and Purley War Memorial Hospital.
