Newport Norse, the latest Norse Commercial Services subsidiary, has been awarded three new contracts to provide cleaning services at local educational establishments.
The company has won annual contracts with Charles Williams CIW primary, four locations for education organisation Flying Starts, and St Albans Roman Catholic High School in Pontypool. Newport Norse will be providing daily cleaning and janitorial services.
The Charles Williams and Flying Start contracts are initially for 12 months, and the St Albans RC High School is a three year agreement with the option to extend for a further two years. The contracts are worth around £273,000 to Newport Norse. 11 existing staff transferred to Newport Norse, and one new job has been created in the area.
“We have considerable resources and expertise at Newport Norse that we are now offering to businesses and organisations across South Wales,” said managing director, Lyndon Watkins. “We are delighted to have won these cleaning contracts with local organisations, and are looking forward to working with them as we continue to grow Newport Norse's reputation as a competitive supplier of quality services.”
Newport Norse is committed to supporting the local supply chain and generating sustainable employment opportunities in the area. “Our planned growth, via agreements such as these, will help us meet those objectives,” added Watkins.
The company currently has an annual turnover of £7.3 million and provides employment for around 230 people in the region.
Newport Norse is the latest of fourteen joint ventures operated by Norse, which is a national service provider with a turnover of £180 million, employing over 9,000 staff. The company has enjoyed a record year of growth, adding more than £37 million of new business in 2014/15.
