Further recognition for Spotless staff

One of Scotland's leading commercial cleaning companies has welcomed a boost to the sector after a staff member picked up a national award. Spotless Commercial Cleaning, which attributes its success to investment in training and motivating 'star cleaners', said Debbie Maclachlan's achievement reflected a rising recognition of the role cleaning plays in the economy.

Debbie Maclachlan won the 'Most inspiring front liner - private sector' accolade in the WOW! Awards, a national scheme which celebrates unsung heroes. Glasgow based Maclachlan won the award after receiving a raft of praise from Spotless customers, in a scheme which solely relies on nominations directly from clients.

Niall Moffat, managing director of Spotless Commercial Cleaning, said: “This award is a great achievement personally for Debbie and furthermore reflects what we try to do as a company in terms of client engagement and how we go about delivering our service. The WOW! awards are driven by clients who recognise outstanding service. The days of cleaning staff being periphery to an organisation are long gone and this award further reflects this.”

Maclachlan, who was described by clients as 'fantastic', 'conscientious' and 'truly motivated and inspirational', said: “This is not just for me, but for all cleaners, because it's hard work. I love my clients and everyone I work with. Working for people who make you feel valued and recognised is what makes it worthwhile working an early morning shift. There is real teamwork at Spotless and I get on well with the managers. It makes me want to do a really good job.”

Maclachlan, who joined Spotless in 2010, now hopes to progress to management through the company's career progression programme.
