Essity appoints Commercial Director for UK and ROI

Essity, a leading global hygiene and health company whose brands include TENA, Tork, Cushelle, and Bodyform, has appointed a new commercial director for the UK and Republic of Ireland (ROI). Nicola Conway will head up the commercial sales team across the region, helping to enhance the success of Essity’s brand portfolio.

Nicola Conway brings over two decades of commercial experience working for major food retailers including Iceland Foods, convenience food producer, Greencore, and Uniq Prepared Foods, to her new role. She joins Essity from Nomad Foods, a frozen food company which supplies popular brands including Birdseye and Goodfellas, where she acted as Grocery Director with responsibility for northern customers.

Drawing on her extensive knowledge of the retail commercial landscape, Conway will be responsible for sales across all consumer goods brands sold in the UK and ROI for Essity. Her portfolio includes major household names such as Cushelle, Plenty, Bodyform, and TENA, as well as multiple retailer ‘own’ brands. Conway’s new position will also see her join Essity’s country management team.

Lee Doherty, VP of Sales and Marketing, Consumer Goods UKI & MEA, at Essity, said: “The world of retail is ever-changing – and this is especially the case in the world of healthcare and hygiene. Innovations are constantly being launched to market, and we’re proud to be a key industry player when it comes to pioneering new products and concepts with sustainability and consumer well-being at their core. Nicola is a great hire who will bring a fresh perspective and renewed enthusiasm for driving sales for Essity’s much-loved brands. We also welcome Nicola’s keenness to support our people in living and breathing our culture of care, collaboration, courage, and commitment, as well as developing the team professionally.”

Nicola Conway will be based in Essity’s Consumer Goods office in Didsbury, Greater Manchester. The North-West office is in close proximity to the business’ Trafford Park paper mill, which is responsible for creating Plenty kitchen roll, Cushelle toilet roll, and own-brand labels for major UK customers. She said: “I’m looking forward to applying what I’ve learned in the world of FMCG to my new role, leading some of Essity’s major household hygiene and health brands. I am excited about having the opportunity to apply my experience across manufacturing and retail, brand and retailer brand to leading some of Essity’s major household hygiene and healthcare brands. I was particularly attracted to Essity’s engaging workplace culture and the prospect of working in and developing a team which supports and empowers other women leaders to thrive. I have been made to feel extremely welcome and am looking forward to making a positive impact with both my team and our customers.”
