Door handle sanitiser enhances washroom experience

Cannon Hygiene has launched its latest innovation in serviced washroom hygiene, the CannonTouch Door Handle Sanitiser. The dispenser is installed above horizontal or vertical door handles and provides a spray of sanitiser every time the door shuts in preparation for the next user. Its ultra-fine mist kills 99.99% of everyday bacteria and contact viruses in less than 30 seconds.

Cannon Hygiene has launched the product to help companies improve hand hygiene and to help break the transmission path of bacteria from surface to hand. According to the latest ONS stats, over 27 million working days were lost due to minor illnesses such as coughs and colds in the UK in 2013. In addition, a study conducted by The University of Arizona found that traces of a harmless virus placed on an office door handle spread to half of the surfaces in the same office, such as desks, photocopies and vending machines, within just four hours.

Howard Sedgwick, managing director at Cannon Hygiene UK, said: “Since we spend such a significant amount of time in a working environment, the likelihood of picking up germs there is high. With the high cost of staff illness ultimately falling on businesses, it makes sense to invest in raising the hygiene standards across premises and help keep people healthy at work. Care Homes and other sensitive areas need to focus even more on minimising the spread of harmful germs as the consequences could be far more serious. Breaking the transmission path is therefore critical. The CannonTouch is part of a complete hygiene system and has been scientifically developed to equip companies in all sectors with just one, highly visible way of providing a clean and pleasing environment, where the transfer of germs is minimised. I'm proud to announce this latest innovation as we mark our 60th year in business.”
