Dispenser design boosts hand hygiene

Washroom dispensers play an invaluable role in the promotion of healthy hand washing habits in the workplace. Employers that are committed to enhancing the wellbeing of their workforces - while also reducing the damage to service delivery and customer satisfaction caused by staff absence through illness - should choose dispensers and formulations that are accessible, attractive and a pleasure to use.

Serco began providing a range of customer contact and support services for Aegon, a leading life insurance and pensions company, in November 2012. Under the partnership, Serco primarily operates from Aegon's offices in Lytham St Annes, which Serco plans to establish as a centre of excellence, also delivering business process outsourcing services to other customers.

Washroom design can play a significant role in making employees feel comfortable, supported and cared for. Serco recognised this and brought in GOJO to advise it on the washroom dispensers in the Lytham building, as Lesley Juett, region 2 head of real estate and FM operations for Serco UK and Europe, explained: “We wanted to minimise the spread of infections and reduce the amount of time needed to clean the dispensers. We were also keen to 'make a change' to the look and feel of the building that people would notice in light of the transfer of the service from Aegon to Serco.”

In order to be truly successful, dispensers need to have a multitude of characteristics that combine good aesthetics, accessibility and ease of use, whilst being equipped with pleasant and effective hygienically advanced formulations. GOJO's touch-free LTX dispensers fitted the bill perfectly.

A desire to move from manually operated to touch-free dispensers, and the look, feel and fragrance of the Freshberry foam soap were key drivers in the decision, together with no increase in existing costs. The whole package delivered the stylish looks, ease of use, and effective results that Serco required - and which are becoming ever more essential across the entire facilities management sector.”
