Cycle challenge for pancreatic cancer research

Former Bunzl Cleaning & Hygiene Supplies (BCHS) employee, Ernest Craske, has completed the 'End-to-End' challenge, alongside Paul Hirst of Kimberly-Clark, to raise almost £8000 and counting for the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund.

The 1000-mile trip, which sees a course from John O'Groats to Land's End, was completed over fourteen days from 9-23 May and was well supported by friends and family members in the Bunzl sponsored support vehicle.

Choosing a cause close to both of their hearts, Craske, a national account controller at BCHS for almost 25 years before retirement, and Paul Hirst, a current strategic national account manager at Kimberly-Clark Professional, were inspired to brave the elements to the finish line despite facing a few setbacks in their paths, which included falling over the handle bars and beating some challenging inclines.

Ernest Craske said: “We owe a huge debt of thanks to Bunzl for sponsoring our trip by funding a support vehicle, fuel and insurance costs and cycling shirts. In addition, the support we received along the route from colleagues from BCHS, Kimberly-Clark, and Mitie were a great boost to us all. It is fair to say that without the Bunzl support we would have been unable to even contemplate the trip.”

Despite their dedication to training and fundraising, the End-to-End challenge team are still striving to hit their significant target of £25,000 and continue to accept donations via their JustGiving page.
