Complete Cleaning Services, one of Scotland’s largest independent contract cleaning specialists, won praise from Jim Murphy, the Secretary of State for Scotland, on the occasion of its 25th anniversary.
Murphy said it was important in tough times to remember the success of companies like Complete Cleaning Services: “because they hold the key to our long term economic recovery.” As he joined the celebrations, Murphy added: “Nobody stays in business for a quarter of a century unless they are good at what they do, and Complete Cleaning is obviously very good at what it does. You can take real pride in the growth of the company, and the fact that you have provided employment for so many people over the years.”
Managing director Donald Carslaw sold his family car to buy a van and a carpet cleaning machine when he started the business in 1984. The company is now a major player in the contract cleaning scene, employing 400 people and achieving an annual turnover of £4 million.
Carslaw said: “We have strengthened our management team and set ourselves the target of doubling our turnover to £8 million in the next three years. Three key factors have helped us keep ahead of the opposition in this intensely competitive industry: the quality and dedication of our workforce who are specially trained in all aspects of the cleaning business, tailoring our services to meet the specific needs of individual customers, and our clients’ loyalty to us over the years.”
