Citrica, the first commercial cleaning company to gain the Carbon Trust Standard, has won a prestigious Green Apple Environment Award in the annual national competition. Citrica will be presented with its Green Apple Award at a ceremony at the House of Commons later this year.
This latest achievement is in addition to the company becoming Carbon Clear, and all winners of a ‘Green Apple’ join the National Green Heroes, an elite group of environmental high achievers who use their experience to help thousands of other organisations around the world.
The Green Apple Award is now in its 16th year and attracted more than 500 nominations from around the UK.
Citrica’s managing director, Danny Buckley, said: “We are very proud to have received this significant accolade from such a forward thinking organisation. We have worked continuously since 2002 to achieve CO2 reductions and off-sets of the carbon footprint we produce through our operations. It is a positive reflection of Citrica’s environmental policy.”
The Green Apple Awards are organised by The Green Organisation, an independent, non-political, non-activist, non-profit environment group dedicated to recognising, rewarding and promoting environmental best practice around the world.
