Floorbrite, one of the largest family owned contract cleaning companies in the north west and west Yorkshire - based in Sale, Manchester and Birstall, Leeds and employing approximately 850 staff - is celebrating its 40th anniversary. The company was started by Martin Wyers who sadly died due to cancer in December 2010 at the age of 61.
Wyers began the company in 1972 by cleaning the Tesco store in Sale which he did single handedly through the night and then put on a suit to go and quote for more business through the day. In the early days, as he won more contracts, some days he would only get a few hours sleep and others none at all as he grew his cleaning business.
Linda Wyers, wife of the founder, is now chairman of the company and their three children - Nina, Alex and Nik - also work within the company. Nina Wyers said: “We are continuing my dad’s legacy which, with the help of our managing director, John Perkins, is going from strength to strength. So much so that we recently celebrated our 40th anniversary in business.”
The business currently has a turnover of approximately £7 million. In addition to daily cleaning - which is by far the largest side of the business - the company also provides window cleaning and industrial cleaning services and can supply consumables, washroom services, waste removal, landscaping, gardening and pest control. The company’s largest single client is The Lowry Theatre and it has also cleaned Exchange Quay in Salford Quays for approx 20 years. Other high profile contracts include JD Sports, Daisy Communications, Training 2000 Academies, Ticketmaster, Hays Recruitment, Lamborghini and Bents Garden Centre.
