Charity work recognised in L&G Awards

Disaster restoration specialist Rainbow International has been recognised in the Legal and General Awards for its contribution to local communities.

A 14 strong team of cyclists from Rainbow International raised £53,000 for The Meningitis Trust by cycling from John O’Groats to Lands End in 10 days. Now Legal and General has rewarded the dedication of the Rainbow team by naming them runners up in its Making a Difference awards which recognises companies across Britain who make a positive difference to the environment, employee relations, local communities or by reducing their carbon footprint.

Phil Else, managing director of Rainbow International, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for Rainbow International and once again a testament to the courage and commitment to all those who took part in the end2end bike ride. The difference they made to The Meningitis Trust with their incredible fund raising was plain for all to see and it is extremely gratifying to be given such recognition from one of our customers in these highly respected national awards. We will continue to expand our Corporate Social Responsibility policy very rigorously in the future, to ensure that we help to protect the environment for our future generations and also help those in life less fortunate than ourselves.”

The company was awarded a £200 cheque as part of its prize which will be donated to its 2008 charity appeal, Rainbow Children’s Hospice.
