Vectair Systems has announced that its Phew! brand of natural toilet sprays was one of the sponsors of the 2017 Crohn’s and Colitis UK ‘Walk It’ campaign.

Phew! is a natural toilet spray launched in 2016. When sprayed three to five times into the toilet onto the surface of the water, it forms a barrier that stops odour from escaping. A fresh lemon scent is released upon flushing. The 30ml Phew! bottle fits neatly into a handbag or coat pocket and provides up to 80 uses. Its discreet branding and almost silent spray action provides peace of mind to those diagnosed with Crohn’s and Colitis and many others who may feel anxious or embarrassed using a toilet other than their own.

The Crohn’s and Colitis UK Walk It campaign encourages its 33,000 members and their friends and families to walk either 5k or 10k in eight locations across the UK, to help raise money and awareness of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). More than 3000 walkers raised £300,000 in 2016, and the eight walks in 2017 took place in Plymouth, Manchester, Newcastle, London, Swansea, Edinburgh, Birmingham, and Bristol. Bottles of Phew! featured in the toilets set up along the London Walk It route.

This is the second charity partnership for Vectair Systems, which already partners with The Eve Appeal gynaecological cancer research charity for its Femcare MVP feminine hygiene bin. Vectair gives 50p per bin sold to the charity and was recently shortlisted as a finalist in the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Excellence Awards for its cancer awareness campaign.

Paul Wonnacott, managing director and president, Vectair Systems, said: “Crohn’s Disease, Ulcerative Colitis and other forms of inflammatory bowel disease affect more than 300,000 people in the UK. For people diagnosed with Crohns Disease or Ulcerative Colitis, a common symptom is going to the toilet more frequently. We definitely don’t think people should feel embarrassed about doing a ‘number two’ in a public place, but we know that many people do. In fact, we carried out some research which shows that 56% of people in the UK feel embarrassed or awkward doing a ‘number two’ in a toilet other than their own. Toilet embarrassment is indeed so high that 41% of people try not to go at work unless they absolutely have to. For these people, we wanted to create an affordable, discreet and handbag size spray that doesn’t just mask odours, but completely stops it from escaping under the water’s surface. We are extremely excited about the positive impact that Phew! can bring to the daily lives of Crohn’s and Colitis sufferers, and we are thrilled to become a corporate sponsor of the Crohn’s and Colitis UK charity’s Walk It campaign.
