BIFM Awards to showcase 'exceptional and inspirational' FM

The British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) Awards are now open for entries. BIFM is encouraging the global FM community to share their achievements.

Entering the awards gives the opportunity for individuals, teams, projects, and organisations to showcase their achievement in FM, demonstrating to a wider audience the difference this has made to organisations, society, and the economy.

Entries close on 2 May 2014, with 'facilities manager of the year' closing on 27 June. Finalists will then be announced in August 2014, ahead of the BIFM Awards ceremony taking place on 13 October at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.

2014 sees a new award recognising a 'rising talent in facilities management'. This accolade will be presented to a single FM professional who has made a significant contribution to their organisation and the FM profession. The winner will be an ambassador for the FM profession and be able to evidence how they actively promote FM as a 'career of choice'.

A further change for 2014 is the inclusion of two awards within the 'FM service provider of the year' category - one for an SME, and one for a large organisation. This is to recognise the diversity of FM service providers in the current marketplace. In addition, there will be a 'BIFM board lifetime achievement award' presented at the awards ceremony, with a 'judges' special recognition award' accolade to a deserving outstanding entry.

Steve Gladwin, chairman of the judges for the BIFM Awards, said: “Some amazing winners have been worthy recipients of a BIFM award over the years, many of whom have gone on to influence and shape the FM sector and profession. This leads me to consider what our 2014 finalists and winners will go on to achieve long after the awards ceremony in October. Entering is a great opportunity for teams to come together and reflect on achievements. I look forward to seeing what exceptional and inspirational entries we receive from across the sector during my first year as chairman.”
