Biffa has reached agreement with Enviroco to acquire its chemical treatment division. This deal builds on Biffa's recent acquisition of the hazardous waste businesses of PHS and will further augment Biffa's growing Hazardous Waste Division.
Enviroco's chemical treatment division operates from a large, modern hazardous waste transfer facility in Sheffield and carries out hazardous waste collection services for more than 80 corporate customers. The business, including Enviroco's Sheffield facility and specialist hazardous waste fleet, will be fully integrated into Biffa's Chemical Treatment Division.
The acquisition is planned to complete before the end of the year. Once the integration of the Enviroco business is complete, Biffa will - according to the company - have the most comprehensive waste transfer station network in the UK, a significantly enhanced service offering and a strong platform to increase market share in the collection and disposal of hazardous waste.
Ian Wakelin, chief executive of Biffa, said: “The collection, management and disposal of hazardous waste is a high growth area in the UK and one in which the winners will be those with geographic scale and technical expertise. The agreement to purchase Enviroco's chemical treatment division, following the now-completed PHS acquisition, is in line with our strategy to enhance significantly our capabilities in this field. We are delighted to welcome the Enviroco team to Biffa and we look forward to working with them as we enter this new and exciting phase of growth in hazardous waste.”
