Best ever Cleaning Show defies economic gloom

Despite the current economic gloom and the negative input of several ‘doubters’ before the event, the Cleaning Show 2009 - held at the NEC, Birmingham from 10-12 March - saw some 8000 visitors through its doors.

Show organisers, BCCE Ltd - a company jointly owned by the British Cleaning Council and Quartz Publishing & Exhibitions Ltd - were delighted with this year’s attendance figures. Event director, said,”This show far exceeded our own high expectations, with not only quantity, but quality too. The show had a real buzz about it and staging the event in one large hall enabled visitors to see the entire show.”

Paul Michael, managing director of BCCE Ltd and Quartz, said: ”The Cleaning Show has exceeded our high hopes. We spent more money on visitor marketing than at previous shows and it is good to see that the visitors have responded in their attendance. From the comments of exhibitors and visitors alike you would not think there is a recession. The Cleaning Show had a happy and industrious buzz about it and has set the scene for the industry going forward, so much so that we have already taken many booking for the next show, which will be at the NEC from 1-3 March 2011.”

Several events took place during the show, including the Clean Britain Awards, the Innovation Awards, the Ride-on Charity Challenge and the Window Cleaning Competition - all helping to create points of interest throughout the three day event.

Visitors and exhibitors were delighted with the outcome, with several stands reporting they had run out of samples and literature as demand outstripped supply.
