Berendsen UK, provider of textile and laundry services to the healthcare and hospitality sectors in the UK, has won the Green Impact award at the first ever Laundry and Dry Cleaning Awards (The LADAs). This award recognises Berendsen UK's ongoing environmental and sustainability commitment and excellence.
The LADAs recognise companies, individuals, services and products in the laundry and dry-cleaning industry that make positive contributions to society and technology. Berendsen UK, the first recipient of the Green Impact award, has introduced a variety of environmentally friendly practices across its operations, which have enabled significant energy and water savings. Since 2008, Berendsen UK has reduced energy consumption (kWh) by 17% and water usage by 37%, equating to over one billion litres of water per year.
Paul Swift, business development manager at Berendsen UK, said: “We are delighted that Berendsen UK's ongoing commitment to the environment and sustainability has been acknowledged with this award. It recognises the excellent work done by our engineering and technical teams in making these pro-sustainability changes happen, led by energy manager Peter Woolstenholmes. By investing in energy and water saving equipment and processes, we are providing market leading services to customers and enabling them to reduce their own environmental impact, to the benefit of their business and to society.”
