Avica UK moves south

Avica UK Ltd, the Watford-based distributor of janitorial, medical and catering products serving north London and the surrounding counties, has expanded south of the Thames with the acquisition of London & Southern Hygiene in Tunbridge Wells.

The London & Southern business has been rebranded Avica, retaining all current staff, whilst planning to expand the customer service team. Avica has been a member of Jangro since 1996. Jangro is a national distribution network of 37 independent janitorial suppliers, founded by Bryan Squires. Squires also founded London & Southern back in 1980.

London & Southern services Kent, south London and most of Sussex - now Avica will be able to upgrade its customer service in this area from ‘twice weekly’ deliveries to a ‘free next day delivery’ service.

This is the third Avica acquisition in as many years. In 2007 it purchased Blackbush Services in Hemel Hempstead, then First Choice Marshalls janitorial division in 2008, and it is now looking for further investments in the south of England.

Jeremy Thorn, Avica’s managing director, said: “This acquisition enables us to provide a ‘next day’ service to the whole of the London and surrounding counties on orders placed by 5pm. Our aim is to become one of the largest and most reliable janitorial suppliers in the south east.”
