A licence to practice - an industry first

The British Institute of Cleaning Science is the first organisation within the cleaning industry to produce an ‘industry licence to practice’ for cleaning operatives.

Following the success of the Cleaning Professionals Skills Suite (CPSS) qualification launched in 2011, BICSc has issued over 2000 Mandatory Unit Cards (MU Card) to over 30 different organisations. The MU Card is the first step on the educational route for membership of the Institute. It rewards cleaning operatives with a licence to practice within the industry with a three year BICSc membership at PBICSc status. A reassessment is required after the three year period expires.

The sustainable BICSc training model empowers organisations to train their own employees to an accredited BICSc standard through in-house training. BICSc Accredited Training Organisations (ATOs) have the flexibility to choose skills required for their business and to control training costs. Their cleaning operatives are able to achieve a licence to practice and gain membership of a globally recognised body.
