With less than a month to go until The Manchester Cleaning Show opens its doors, the organiser has revealed final details of its comprehensive conference programme. From 6-7 April 2022, more than 3000 cleaning professionals will be welcomed to the Manchester Central Convention Complex where the latest insights into innovative hygiene and cleaning practices will be up for discussion.
Sustainable cleaning is high on the agenda
As consumer expectations surrounding sustainability continue to increase, many businesses in the cleaning industry are re-assessing how they should respond to the climate crisis. Sourcing sustainable products and using fewer resources have become a top priority to help reduce the industry’s impact on the planet, all whilst keeping commercial and domestic environments hygienically safe.
Guiding attendees through the steps they can take to achieve sustainability and reiterating the need to ‘act now’ in the global commitment to stop climate change will be Nina Wyers, marketing and brand director, The Floorbrite Group. Attendees can take inspiration from this exciting session that will explore the innovations and solutions that Floorbrite have introduced, ensuring effective change can be created by cleaning and recycling creatively.
Another session will see James Lee, council member, Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers Association, offer an engaging presentation on ‘A Roadmap Towards Sustainability’ where he will lay out the CHSA’s five-pillar initiative to help its members understand the standards on quality, ethics and sustainability facing the industry.
Facilitating the cleaning process using robotics
With many businesses constantly looking to find more efficient and effective ways of operating, the cleaning sector has seen a surge in the need for technology-led solutions. Among the solutions gaining popularity are robotics or collaborative robots, known as cobotics. Facilitating less labour-intensive work and quicker cleaning, cobotics are set to lead the way when it comes to automation and efficient cleaning practices.
A dedicated session on Cobotics will see Tibor Killi, managing director, Killis - the show’s official Innovation partner – explain what Cobotics are and why the industry should embrace the benefits offered through the integration of technology. The session will explore the company’s latest scrubber-dryer technology that incorporates sustainability with efficiency to enhance current cleaning practices. Elsewhere, Dominic Ponniah, CEO and co-founder, Cleanology, will also explore how robotics – combined with smart sensor technology – will ease workplace management as cleaning professionals continue to work as safely as possible post-pandemic.
Tackling issues surrounding the industry
The show will be opened by former British Cleaning Council (BCC) chairman Paul Thrupp, who will welcome attendees and give the opening keynote address detailing progress on projects belonging to the BCC and the All Party Parliamentary Group for the Cleaning and Hygiene Industry.
Other highlights of the conference programme will see Fiona Bowman, Employers Initiative on Domestic Abuse (EIDA) address the issue of domestic abuse in the workplace through a personal, insightful session. Research has shown that one in four women and one in six men will be affected by domestic abuse in their lifetime, and so making businesses more aware of ways to support their staff is imperative to tackle the issue. Meanwhile, Elise Craig, programme manager, Living Wage Foundation, and Charlie Mowat, founder and CEO, The Clean Space, will engage with attendees in their joint session about the real Living Wage.
Returning to close both days of the show Killis will invite attendees to witness its king-sized autonomous cleaning robot, Rex and LeoBots in action, but also discover the benefits and advantages of automation through Q&A sessions with the team.
The British Cleaning Council (BCC) co-produces the London and Manchester Cleaning Shows.
Commenting on the Manchester Cleaning Show, Jim Melvin, chairman of the BCC, said: “The conference programme is a key part of The Cleaning Show, bringing everyone together to address current topics and issues surrounding the industry. The pandemic certainly opened people’s eyes towards the value of what the cleaning industry provides to society which is why it is so important to continue promoting the vital work that cleaning operatives do to ensure the wellbeing of the public while addressing the environmental needs of our planet.”
Stuart Dacre, event director, The Manchester Cleaning Show, added: “After last year’s successful event at ExCeL London, we’re incredibly excited to return to Manchester. We are delighted to be able to finally host another platform in the region for face-to-face networking and collaboration, and we have every confidence that this year’s conference programme is sure to do this. We’re counting down the days until we return to the Capital of the North for another successful show!”
