Cordless equipment has a number of advantages for cleaning professionals. However, it is important to select the right products to streamline work on site and improve efficiency. The Makita VC005GL is powered by two XGT 40VMax batteries that operate in series to deliver a maximum airflow of 2.8 m³/min and a maximum sealed suction of 23kPa without the need for frequent recharging.

What’s more, the energy efficiency and run-time of the vacuum cleaner is optimised through the use of the Makita Brushless (BL) motor. With no brushes in the motor to cause friction, energy lost through heat production is minimised. For even better operation times between charges, higher capacity batteries can be selected – for example, Makita offers XGT batteries up to 5.0Ah.

It is also important to choose a vacuum cleaner that has been designed for the demands of professional use. For example, the Makita VC005GL has larger, 120mm diameter rear wheels to improve the stability of the machine during use. It is also IPX4 rated for water resistance to ensure durability and longevity.

The VC005GL is available in a kit (VC005GLD21), which includes the vacuum cleaner, two 2.5Ah XGT 40VMax batteries and the DC40RB two port charger. There is also a ‘body only’ option for those who have already invested in the XGT battery platform.

In addition to the VC005GL, the Makita XGT cleaning range also includes the VC002GL, VC003GL and VC004GL vacuum cleaners. Like the VC005GL, these machines deliver a maximum sealed suction of 23kPa and have large tank capacities - the VC002GL has an 8-litre capacity, while the VC003GL and VC004GL feature a 15-litre tank. The VC002GL and VC004GL also include an automatic self-cleaning filter to ensure optimum efficiency and the VC003GL has a variable power control to allow high power or quieter cleaning depending on the application.
