Andrew Moore, franchisee of cleaning services business, Rainbow International, has taken home the ‘lifestyle’ award at the bfa HSBC British Franchise Awards 2021.
2021 marks the 32nd year of this leading bfa hsbc franchising award, a flagship event for the UK franchising industry. It took place on 30 November at The Vox in Birmingham, where the UK’s best franchisors and franchisees were celebrated.
The ‘lifestyle’ category celebrates franchisees who may have bought into franchising to get a better work-life balance or be their own boss while having a determination to stand out from the crowd. Andrew Moore battled it out against a record number of entries to secure the accolade for his dedication to creating a nurturing and balanced work environment. This included a commitment to hosting daily team huddles so he could check in with employees’ mental wellbeing.
Andrew Moore said: “If any of us have learned anything within the last year it’s that having a good work-life balance is so important, and that’s why I made the decision to embark on a franchising journey. I took the plunge and haven’t regretted it since. I’ve been able to be my own boss and steer a team of fantastic employees whilst also having time to spend with family and friends and ensuring my staff have a much better grip on their own work-life balance too. Despite the challenges of the past year, it’s been fantastic to see the business grow and all our hard work pay off. To be recognised for all those efforts is an amazing feeling.”
Pip Wilkins, CEO of the British Franchise Association, said: “Striking a good work-life balance is something that is really important. However, when faced with the ongoing pressures of a nation in the grips of a pandemic, it can be easy to lose sight of that. Andrew is a shining example of how franchising can help business owners regain control of their lives while still delivering excellent results. Andrew makes sure to provide a nurturing environment for his team and that is important to see.”
