Wates Facilities Management has been appointed by Smart DCC to deliver a total facilities management solution to its new secure facility in Greater Manchester. Wates will also deliver statutory compliance management through its in-house assurance compliance tool.
The new facility is a mixture of laboratories, offices and collaborative spaces which have been developed to enable the UK to meet its domestic smart energy metering targets. On site Smart DCC will share space with leading communications and technology companies.
Smart DCC is the data communications company responsible for establishing and managing the infrastructure necessary to support the main roll out of millions of smart electricity and gas meters to homes and small non-domestic properties across Great Britain.
Krina Patal, head of finance, transformation and business operations at Smart DCC, said: “This project is highly significant both for Smart DCC and for the UK’s smart metering network. The challenge of migrating building users from multiple sites into one new facility is vast and I’m delighted we have formalised our contract with Wates to help deliver this vital project.’’
James Gregg, managing director of Wates FM, said: “We are delighted to be entering into a new partnership with Smart DCC. Our teams both understand and embrace the unique challenges of supporting data environments and meeting compliance standards, making us well placed to support the delivery of this vital service. Of equal importance to our contracts is the ability to add value through the use of sustainable technologies and by partnering with social enterprises within the supply chain community as part of our commitment to contribute to the Wates Group’s nationwide target to spend £20 million with the SE sector by 2020. We look forward to working with the team going forward.”
